Elderly Man Dies After Crashing Into House

need-an-ambulance-1512594An elderly man has died following a crash last week in Suffolk. Reports show the 84-year-old man was driving a Ford F-150 truck on Holland Road when he attempted to make a right turn. A semitrailer struck the back of the Ford, forcing it to crash into a home. No one inside the home was injured by the collision, but the driver of the Ford truck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He died Friday from the injuries sustained in the accident.

Investigators are still working to understand how this crash occurred – and why. Though it’s easy to see the victim’s age and assume he was negligent behind the wheel, there may be more to the story. Too often, older drivers are stereotyped as inattentive or incapable of driving well. We don’t yet know the full story, so it’s really impossible to speculate at this point about who is to blame for the accident.

We send our condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim. We hope they have answers regarding their questions about this tragic accident soon.

The folks living in the home that was crashed into likely also have a plethora of unanswered questions about their rights. The at fault driver’s insurance will likely cover the damage to the home – up to a point. If your home suffered more damage than their policy covers, your homeowner’s insurance may cover the rest.
