Lifestyle Lift Cosmetic Surgery Marketing Practices Under Scrutiny
A state investigation into cosmetic surgery chain Lifestyle Lift’s marketing practices has caused the firm to change how they advertise, according to USA Today.
Lifestyle Lift has come under fire recently for potentially-fatal medical practices after a “routine” cosmetic surgery left a woman dead. In the summer of 2013, the company settled with the State of Florida after the state’s attorney general investigated its marketing practices. The company had been claiming that its medical procedure was “revolutionary;” it must now stop using such language to describe its face-lift services, and it also must disclose if, and how much, its models were compensated, as well as what type of cosmetic surgery was used on them.
Lifestyle Lift has also been accused of permanently disfiguring some of its patients. A woman in Broward County, Florida, underwent Lifestyle Lift’s face-lift procedure due to its being advertised as safer, less painful and with a quicker recovery time; shortly after the procedure she suffered severe keloid scars over her face and her neck. She subsequently sued the medical clinic.
The stories surrounding this company are troubling and alarming. The two examples above are not the only incidents in which Lifestyle Lift has injured patients or undertaken false advertising. This is unacceptable. When one sees a medical professional, under either in- or out-patient circumstances, one expects them to be competent, experienced and skilled. If Lifestyle Lift is operating its clinics in such a shoddy, dangerous manner, then they deserve to be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and their victims deserve to be compensated for whatever damage has been done to them.
