Infant Inclined Sleepers Pulled From Amazon

One of the nation’s largest retailers has removed all infant inclined sleeper products from their marketplace. Amazon announced a ban on the products after discovering research linking them to suffocation and Sudden Unexpected Infant Death syndrome. The Fisher-Price Rock N Play and Kids II rocking sleepers are among the products being recalled.

Inclined Sleeper Design Defects

Inclined sleeper products position babies at angles between 10 and 30 degrees. While the incline may appeal to adults who dream of lounging in a similar position, the design is unsafe for infant use. Babies are incapable of holding their heads up and rolling over from uncomfortable, unsafe positions. Inclined sleeper devices increase the odds that an infant will roll over to their sides or stomach while sleeping, limiting their airway and leading to suffocation.
