Williamsburg multi-vehicle crash results in injury
A three car collision resulted in the injury of at least one person on August 2, 2016. The Williamsburg accident occurred on Bypass Road. Three vehicles crashed there around 9 a.m. Though it’s not clear what caused the accident, the aftermath wasn’t pretty. A Dodge with damage to its front and driver’s side landed in the front yard of a nearby home, while another vehicle was found with its airbags deployed in front of a local 7-11 convenience store. A third car lost its front bumper.
No charges have been filed in the incident yet, but the accident is still under investigation.
Locals will recognize Bypass Road as US-60, a fairly busy road this time of year. With tourists in town visiting Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, many people travel this road to reach their hotels or one of the many restaurants along the street. It’s a deceptively dangerous road, as speeds can range from 35 to 55 in a matter of just a few miles. Factor in the slowing down and turning of many vehicles into these hotels and restaurants, and you’re just one distracted driver away from a serious accident.
Whether you’re driving in a brand new area or simply taking your usual route home, always be sure to leave plenty of distance between you and the driver in front of you. That will give you the time needed to adjust safely should they decide to take any last minute turns or lane changes.
