U.S. 460 Wreck Injures Four

Virginia Car Accident Lawyer - Richard Serpe

A rush hour crash near Lynchburg, Virginia sent four people to the hospital last week. The September 8, 2016 accident occurred on U.S. 460 in Campbell County. Authorities say that around 5:15 PM, a Dodge Caravan was pulling out into the median of 460 from Doss Road when it was struck by a eastbound Nissan Altima. The collision spun the van into the left eastbound lane of 460 and sent the Nissan into the median.

Four people – including a 5-year-old and an 81-year-old – were taken to the hospital with injuries sustained in this accident. Police say traffic was backed up on 460 for miles while workers cleared the road.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan was charged with failure to yield. The driver of the Nissan was also charged in the incident for driving with an open container. In spite of this charge, police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

We send best wishes to the recovering victims and are rooting for speedy recoveries for all involved. Accidents like this one can truly shake a person long after their physical wounds have healed.

It can be difficult to judge the speed of oncoming traffic when attempting to turn left or drive straight through the path of other vehicles. That’s why it always pays to be patient behind the wheel. By waiting and monitoring the situation, speed and driving conditions, motorists can make safer judgments about when it is clear to cross.
