Two Killed, One Injured in Southampton Co. Wreck

speedway-1198194Two are dead after a single-vehicle accident in Southampton County this week. The February 28, 2018 collision was reported to authorities around 2:40 AM. When police arrived on Ivor Road, they discovered a Chevrolet sedan had been traveling northbound when the driver lost control of the car. When the driver tried to correct, they overdid it, crashing into several trees.

Nobody in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The driver and a female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, while a male passenger was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.

An exact cause of the accident has not been released, but given the late night setting, it is easy to draw conclusions about the incident. While it is impossible to speculate with any guaranteed accuracy, chances are good the driver was either drowsy, drunk or distracted at the time of the accident.
