A middle school student in Henrico County was hospitalized this week after being hit by a car. The boy was crossing in a crosswalk in front of Moody Middle School when he was struck by a vehicle heading south on Woodman Road.
The student was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was charged with reckless driving. As the investigation continues, we hope to learn more about this incident and what made the driver act so carelessly.
Pedestrian Accidents
When a car strikes a pedestrian, the result is usually quite serious. Depending on the speed of the vehicle, injuries can be catastrophic. The human body is simply no match for the tons of steel and glass that makes up the average car.
That’s why it is so critical for drivers to watch out for pedestrians. Of course, all accidents should be avoided regardless of the situation, but when a pedestrian in hit by a car, the results have a much higher fatality rate than your average fender bender.
We send our best wishes for a full recovery to the young victim. The days and weeks following a car crash like this one can be troubling.
