Several Killed in Numerous Fatal Accidents in NOVa

A series of tragic accidents in Northern Virginia recently claimed at least seven lives, according to InsideNova. The wrecks occurred primarily in Loudon County, Virginia, where five fatalities were reported.

One occurred near the Snickersville Turnpike, where a vehicle swerved across the double line into oncoming traffic, striking a van and killing one of the van’s passengers and sending four others, one of them a pregnant woman, to nearby hospitals. Charges against the at-fault driver may be forthcoming. The driver has been revealed as Jacqueline Badger Mars, the co-owner of Mars Candy Co.

A second accident occurred after midnight on Ashburn Farm Parkway when, while making a left turn, he slammed into a motorcycle carrying a driver and passenger, both of who were tragically killed; the at-fault driver in this case was charged with driving under the influence (DUI).

A third fatal accident happened in Leesburg, at the intersection of Evergreen Mills and Reservoir roads, when a Ford Explorer slammed into a tree and burst into flames, resulting in the death of both driver and passenger; no at-fault driver has been identified in this case, which appears to be a single-car wreck.

Another accident in Prince William County, this one also apparently a single-car accident, resulted in five people being injured, four of them reportedly seriously.

When such a high number of fatal and injurious accidents happens in such a short period of time, it is shocking and upsetting; we might be used to hearing about one or two car accidents on any given day, but this many is highly distressing.
