Police Searching for Portsmouth Hit-and-Run Driver

Two suspects are on the run following a serious Portsmouth car accident. The crash occurred on the afternoon of Friday, August 26th, when the driver of a Toyota Camry sped through a stop sign at the intersection of Effingham Street and Lincoln Street. A police officer witnessed this infraction and attempted to pull the car over. As they tried to do so, the Toyota struck a Ford Focus and flipped. The two people in the Toyota ran away. The driver of the Ford was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police have not taken any suspects into custody at this time, nor have they released any description of the suspects. We’ll be watching this story closely to see what comes of the men responsible for this crash.

Hit-and-Run Accidents

Hit-and-run drivers are often on probation or have warrants out for their arrests. When they make yet another mistake and cause an accident, they know it is the end of the line. Not wanting to be arrested, these hit-and-run drivers flee the scene rather than take responsibility for their mistakes. The person behind the wheel of the Toyota made a bad choice to speed through a stop sign, but it was a relatively small mistake. Had they simply accepted responsibility for the infraction, the entire incident might have been avoided.
