One Dead in Isle of Wight Crash
A Monday afternoon crash in Isle of Wight County has resulted in the death of one person. The accident occurred around 2:40 PM on October 10th at the intersection of Jenkins Mill Road and Carsville Highway. Police say the driver of a Dodge Dart turned left onto Carsville Highway, right into the path of a Dodge Dakota. The man at the wheel of the Dakota lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road. He was taken to the hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Dart was also injured, but not seriously. She was charged with failure to yield to the right of way.
We send our condolences to the family of the man killed in this crash. The days following a tragic accident like this one can be overwhelming. Undoubtedly, his loved ones will have many difficult, important decisions to make over the coming days and weeks.
It’s important to note that neither driver was wearing their seat belt at the time of the accident. We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again: it’s never a good idea to drive without your seat belt on. It’s the easiest, quickest and most painless way to protect yourself on the road. Even the most experienced, skillful driver is at risk of being struck by a negligent driver.
