Pedestrian Killed in Norfolk's Annual Greek Festival Accident

A Chesapeake woman was killed while crossing the street at Norfolk’s annual Greek Festival. The incident occurred on Granby St. in Norfolk. The victim was attempting to leave the May 18, 2019 event but was struck by a car while walking in a crosswalk. She sustained serious injuries and received treatment at the scene but later succumbed to her wounds at a local hospital. The driver involved stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators. No charges have been filed, as neither alcohol nor speed played an obvious role in the wreck. Police say the investigation is ongoing.

An Unlit Crosswalk

Initial investigations reveal that the light near the crosswalk was out the night of the incident.
