Fatal Eastern Shore Wrong Way Crash
An early morning crash on the Eastern Shore turned deadly when a wrong way driver struck another vehicle head on. The driver, an eighteen-year-old woman, was speeding down Route 13 in the wrong direction at around 4:45 a.m. Her Chevrolet slammed into a Mitsubishi and caught fire. The teen driver died upon impact, reports say. The driver of the Mitsubishi was flown to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Another woman was riding in the Mitsubishi as well, but police have not listed her injuries.
Police are investigating the cause of this accident, but they suspect the high rate of speed in which the teen was traveling in the wrong direction is why this crash was so particularly deadly.
Summer Driving Means More Dangerous Roads
In summer months, there are more dangers on the road, than you might think. For example, teen drivers are far more likely to be driving in the summer. They are also more likely to be driving while fatigued and driving while distracted. In the summer months, without the daily obligations of high school, teens take to the road. Some 72% of teens report that they stay out later in the summer.
