What are the causes of Traumatic Brain Injuries?
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the leading causes of traumatic brain injuries are:
- Falls (35.2%)
- falls cause more than half (50.2%) of traumatic brain injuries among children ages 0-14
- falls cause about 60.7% of traumatic brain injuries among senior citizens
- Motor vehicle traffice (17.3%)
- brain injuries caused by motor vehicle accidents are the largest percentage of traumatic brain injury deaths
- Struck by/against events (16.5%)
- Assault (10%)
